Reports suggest that the police have also freed several other girls who were held captive for similar purposes.
This joint effort involved both the Uttar Pradesh Police and the Jharkhand Police.
The rescued girl, originally from Sukhdeo Nagar in Ranchi, was deceitfully brought to Kushinagar. Her disappearance had prompted her father to file a missing person report on August 13th.
He had raised suspicions against a local named Jwala Prasad, also known as Abhay Kumar, in his neighbourhood.
The police acted swiftly, arresting the suspect and locating the girl, who had been kept confined in a room.
It is worth noting that the place in Kushinagar where the girl was rescued from had several other girls also held against their will.
A team from Jharkhand, accompanied by the Uttar Pradesh Police, conducted the operation to free these girls.
The young girl from Ranchi had narrowly escaped being forced into the red-light trade, as Jwala Prasad had handed her over to a female trafficker.
Ranchi's Sukhdeo Nagar station in-charge Vinod Kumar said that the female trafficker is now in police custody, and further investigations are underway.
