ODI World Cup 2011: India’s win in the ODI World Cup 2011 is still being remembered as one of the greatest triumphs after the first-ever World Cup victory in 1983. MS Dhoni is just the second skipper of the Men in Blue to win this fifty-overs event after Kapil Dev. Many players of Team India who were part of the ODI WC 2011 campaign have retired. However, these 2 Indian players who were part of the 2011 glory are still part of the Indian Cricket Team.

ODI World Cup 2011: On 2nd April 2011, one big event had happened in Indian Cricket. India was the host country of the ODI World Cup in 2011 and no host country had won the fifty overs event before in a tournament like ODI World Cup.

But it was India who was in the world to end this myth in cricket by winning the tournament in 2011 at home. Then in 2015, Australia and in 2019, England were the other two countries who won the ICC mega event of the fifty overs format at home.

India was good in their 2011 World Cup campaign. Apart from losing to South Africa and a tied match against England, India under the leadership of Mahendra Singh Dhoni, were unstoppable in that tournament.

Now MSD has retired from International format. Mahi plays only in the Indian Premier League tournament.

The engineer turned cricketer has been India’s main man in the traditional format of the game. Today Ashwin is playing his 100th Test match for the Men in Blue in the 5th Test Match in Dharamshala against England. He was the part of 2013 ICC Champions Trophy glory which also came under Mahi.

But now, India takes Ashwin only as a Test specialist since 2017. Ash was the part of ODI World Cup 2023. But he didn’t get many chances despite being the one of the best spin bowlers of the country. He was in the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia. There his performed was disappointing.

Now his future in the white ball cricket lies with his performance in TATA IPL 2024. The upcoming T20 event can be a decisive factor for Ash. If he performs well then Ravichandran can be in the squad of T20 World Cup 2024 in the United States of America (USA) and West Indies.

India will play their first round in New York and they will take on Pakistan on June 9th 2024. Ashwin's inclusion will help the Men in Blue side in that tournament of the T20 International format.

He is a bowler with full of caliber and that's why he has gone on to play century of Test matches for the country.

2. Virat Kohli

The King of International Cricket is currently on a break because of the birth of his second child, Akaay. Kohli was the part of 2011 ODI World Cup and he also scored his first World Cup century in that tournament.

He captained the Men in Blue in the 2019 ODI World Cup in England and Wales. India had lost the semi-finals to New Zealand in that event of the fifty-overs format.

Now Virat Kohli will be seen directly in the first match of the Indian Premier League 2024 season where Royal Challengers Bangalore will take on the defending champions of this season, Chennai Super Kings on Friday, 22nd March 2024 at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

The fans of RCB will hope that their favourite IPL franchise will end their title drought in this season at least. One more interesting fact is that Virat Kohli and Ravichandran Ashwin were the part of India's triumph in the ICC Champions Trophy as well in 2013 under the captaincy of MSD.
