TATA IPL 2024: This season of Indian Premier League will start from Friday 22nd March 2024. The first match of TATA IPL 2024 edition will be played between Chennai Super Kings Vs Royal Challengers Bangalore at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
But the defending champions will not have their star opening batter and that will be a huge blow for them in this season. The Yellow Army will have to find a replacement for New Zealand’s Devon Conway in this edition of this cash rich league tournament.
The CSK opener will also miss the second and the last red ball match against The Aussies. Australia has won the 1st match of that red ball series at Wellington by 172 runs while the second game will be played from Friday, 8th March to Tuesday, 12th March 2024 at Hagley Oval in Christchurch.
Conway has been a star batter for the Yellow Army. He and Gaikwad have been the best openers for CSK so far. But now, the Super Kings will have to defend their crown without Devon because he will undergo a surgery on this left thumb and because of that, the opening batsman will also miss the TATA IPL 2024 action till May.
Ajinkya Rahane came as the turning point for CSK in the last IPL 2023 season. He batted at number three position and did a wonderful job for his franchise team. Rahane performed so well that he also earned a Test recall in the WTC 2023 final match against the Baggy Green side. He scored 326 runs in the last season for the Yellow Army.
But now, Jinx has lost his place in the Test side yet again. So the TATA IPL 2024 edition will give another opportunity for him to make a comeback in that red ball format through the IPL. However, this time he will have to open the innings with Ruturaj Gaikwad in the absence of Devon Conway.
Rahane was the preferred opener in the T20 World Cup 2014 edition, when MS Dhoni led the Indian team till the finals of that ICC event in Bangladesh. Ajinkya opened the innings with the current Indian skipper Rohit Sharma and he also opened the innings for the Rajasthan Royals as well in the Indian Premier League. Jinx is experienced enough to do that job.
The spin bowling all rounder from the team of T20 World Cup 2022 winner, England can be the second choice as the opening batter for the team of Chennai Super Kings in the absence of Conway. Ali can provide explosive starts while opening the innings in a T20 game. Moeen is a stylish batter and a sweet timer of a cricket ball as well.
The Chennai Super Kings franchise can replace a Kiwi with a Kiwi. Rachin Ravindra can be the replacement of his team mate Devon Conway in the TATA IPL 2024 edition. This year’s edition will be the first ever one for this Indian born New Zealand cricketer.
He can be the x factor for CSK as he was for New Zealand in ODI World Cup 2023. Ravindra can be seen as opener in this edition of the cash rich league tournament because that slot is much suited for him.
