The number of SpiceJet flights has been cut in half by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). Following multiple disruptions, the aviation authority has ordered SpiceJet to fly only 50% of its flights for the next eight weeks.

Due to the findings of numerous spot checks, inspections, and SpiceJet's response to a show cause notice, the number of SpiceJet departures is limited to 50% of the number of departures permitted under Summer Schedule 2022 for 8 weeks from the date of this order's issuance.

The DGCA has limited the number of SpiceJet planned flights

According to one of the DGCA's directives, after all of the spot checks and inspections, half of SpiceJet's flights have been suspended. In response to SpiceJet's show cause notice, the DGCA has limited the number of SpiceJet planned flights for the next eight weeks to ensure passenger safety.

This is the most stringent punishment taken by the DGCA against a commercial aviation firm in recent memory. The directive makes it clear that authorization for more than half of the flights would be based on the airline's efficiency. At the same time, they must ensure that the organization has sufficient personnel and financial resources.
