But in that also, the Man of the Tournament award is the main award given to the players. This award is given to the best batsmen and all-rounders of that edition.

However, in the 16 completed years of the TATA IPL, only three players from Australia have won the Man of the Tournament award in this cash-rich league tournament and one of the Australian players is the only one who has won this award twice in his career.

Today in this segment, we will mention that player and the other two cricketers as well who have won the Man of the Tournament Award in this T20 event, which is played every year.

1. Shane Watson (2008 And 2013)

The first player to win the Man of the Tournament award in the IPL is the former all-rounder, Shane Watson. He is also the only player till now who has won this award twice in his career of the Indian Premier League.

Watto won this award in the first-ever season of 2008 when he played for the Rajasthan Royals and the team of RR won that title that year, which is still their only trophy in this cash-rich league tournament.

Watson scored 472 runs and also picked up 17 wickets in the inaugural season of this T20 tournament. Shane again won the Man of the Tournament award for the second time, which was also the last time in his IPL career in 2013, when he again represented the Double R side.

In that season, Watson scored 543 runs and again he also got 13 scalps to his name. But Rajasthan Royals didn’t win the title in that edition and Mumbai Indians won their first trophy of the IPL in 2013.

2. Adam Gilchrist (2009)

The aggressive opening batter, wicket-keeper and captain, Adam Gilchrist is the second player from the Baggy Green country to win the Man of the Tournament award in this cash-rich league tournament. He is the first captain to win this award in the IPL.

Gilly won the tournament in the season of 2009 when he led his side, Deccan Chargers to the title win. Gilchrist scored 495 runs in that season when the Chargers won the first ever trophy of the Indian Premier League tournament.

3. Glenn Maxwell: (2014)

The current all-rounder of the Aussie team has played the IPL with for four different IPL franchises. Maxi gas played for Mumbai Indians, Delhi Daredevils and Kings XI Punjab, which is now known as Punjab Kings. Now Maxwell is with the team of Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Maxi had a great season in 2014 for Punjab.

The first half of that season was played in the United Arab Emirates and the other half was played at home. Maxwell dominated the first half when the season was played in the UAE and the Punjab side also reached the finals of the Indian Premier League, which is the only time in this tournament.

Maxi is the last Australian as of now to win the Man of the Tournament award in the IPL. He scored 552 runs and also picked up one wicket as well to his name in the 2014 edition. But Punjab didn’t win the title because KKR stunned them in the finals of 2014 edition.
