Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Making derogatory remarks about Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati has landed Samajwadi Party's (SP) National General Secretary Shivpal Yadav in serious trouble.
A case has been filed against Shivpal Singh Yadav on the complaint of the BSP district president of Budaun, Ram Prakash Tyagi, accusing him of making disrespectful comments against Mayawati.
Police sources reported on Monday that the case was registered late Sunday night under Sections 504 (intentional insult) and 505 (statements conducing to public mischief) of the Indian Penal Code.
In this matter, the complainant Ram Prakash Tyagi, the district president of the BSP, claimed that on May 3, he watched a news clipping on his mobile phone in which Shivpal used disrespectful and indecent language against BSP's national president Mayawati.
He stated that Mayawati has been the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh four times, and the use of derogatory words against her has caused a lot of anger among BSP workers.
According to the BSP district president Ram Prakash Tyagi, he had provided the police with the video of the comment, which was investigated. After the investigation, a case was registered against Shivpal at Kotwali Civil Lines under appropriate sections.
Tyagi suggested that the National Commission for Women and the National Commission for Scheduled Castes should also take cognizance of the matter.
It is worth noting that Shivpal's son, Aditya Yadav, is the Samajwadi Party's candidate from the Budaun Lok Sabha constituency. The Samajwadi Party has changed its candidate for this seat twice before.
Initially, Dharmendra Yadav was fielded by the party. Later, in another list, the party replaced Dharmendra Yadav with Shivpal Yadav as the candidate from Budaun. Subsequently, another list was issued, nominating Shivpal Yadav's son, Aditya Yadav, for the Budaun seat.
