Enhanced Security for Sourav Ganguly: On May 16, the West Bengal Government made the decision to elevate the security cover of former India captain Sourav Ganguly to Z category.

This upgrade comes after the expiration of Ganguly's previous Y category security tenure.

Under the new security cover, Ganguly will be accompanied by approximately 8 to 10 police personnel at all times to ensure his safety.

According to an official statement from PTI, following the expiration of the VVIP's security cover, a protocol review was conducted, resulting in the decision to elevate Sourav Ganguly's security cordon to the Z category.

Despite no formal request from Sourav Ganguly to enhance the security arrangements, the Bengal government has taken proactive measures to strengthen the security system.
