Money Laundering Case: Nawab Malik gets Setback from SC, Application for Interim Release Dismissed

Money Laundering Case: Nawab Malik has not even gotten relief from the Supreme Court in the money laundering case. He had applied for interim release but it was rejected by the court. Let us inform you that Nawab Malik is facing the action of the Enforcement Directorate in many cases including money laundering. Recently all his properties were also confiscated.

Actions taken by Enforcement Directorate so far...

1. ED has attached four properties of Malik in Mumbai and one in Osmanabad.

2. Properties of Kurla West and Bandra West have also been attached.

3. Seizure action has also been taken on the Goawala compound of Kurla.

4. ED also attached agricultural land in Osmanabad.

The Supreme Court agreed to hear the petition of Nawab Malik. In his application, Malik had requested his immediate release from jail in the money laundering case. A bench of Chief Justice NV Ramana, Justice Krishna Murari and Justice Hima Kohli on Wednesday asked advocate Kapil Sibal, appearing for Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) jailed leader Malik, to provide the documents. Malik has requested an urgent hearing on his plea. The bench had said that please give the papers.

Nawab Malik was arrested on 23 February

Nawab Malik was arrested by the ED on Wednesday, 23 February, after which he was produced before the special court, from where he has been sent to ED custody till March 3. ED claims that this investigation is being done against Nawab Malik in connection with gangster Dawood Ibrahim and his associates. He is presently lodged in the Arthur Road Jail in judicial custody.
