Famous Singer-Composer Bappi Lahiri Dies, was Admitted to the Hospital on Tuesday

Bappi Lahiri, a musician and vocalist who popularized disco music in India during the 1980s and 1990s, died today at Criticare Hospital in Mumbai. He was 69 years old. Dr. Deepak Namjoshi, the hospital's director, told PTI that "Lahiri spent a month in the hospital before being released on Monday. However, his health began to deteriorate on Tuesday, and his family called a doctor to their home. He was taken to the hospital once again. He has a number of health issues. He died of OSA (obstructive sleep apnea) shortly before midnight."

Bappi Lahiri, dubbed "Disco King" in India, was born in 1952 in Calcutta, West Bengal, to a family with a long history in classical music. At the age of 19, he began his profession as a music director. Aparesh Lahiri, his father, was a well-known Bengali vocalist, and Bansari Lahiri, his mother, was a musician and singer who were well-versed in classical music and Shyama Sangeet.

Bhankas from Baaghi 3 was his last song

Dadu (1972), a Bengali film, gave him his first opportunity to sing, and Nanha Shikari, a Hindi film, gave him his first opportunity to write music (1973). Tahir Hussain's Hindi film Zakhmee (1975), for which he wrote music and made a name as a playback vocalist, was the film that launched him into Bollywood. The song Bhankas from Baaghi 3 was the last song in Bollywood in 2020.
