IPL: In the Indian Premier League and on a cricket field overall, the captain is regarded as an important person. A Captain is the one takes all the decision and he is the one always backs a player even in his tougher times. The skipper is one who is instrumental in making the team’s environment happier when the team doesn’t do well.

In the IPL, we shall see the best skippers of the tournament. Rohit Sharma and Mahendra Singh Dhoni are regarded as the best leaders of their franchise sides.

Mahi and HITMAN have won five titles of the IPL each. But in the current season of the TATA IPL 2024, Dhoni and Sharma are not leading their teams.

Despite being the best skippers of this cash-rich league tournament, MSD and Rohit haven’t won the Man of the Tournament Award even once as the players nor as the captains of MI and CSK respectively.

Only three players have won this award as the captains in the IPL. One Australian and two Indians are mentioned in this below list of three.

1. Adam Gilchrist

In the season of 2009, Gilly scored 495 runs and he was the second highest run getter of that edition. Adam had also smashed 29 sixes in the second edition of the IPL which was played in 2009. The 29 sixes from the Aussie keeper batter was also the most by any player during the 2009 edition.

The Master Blaster and God Of Cricket also won the Man of the Tournament award in the IPL. Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar was the first Indian skipper to win this award. In the 2010 IPL season, Tendulkar had scored 618 runs for Mumbai Indians franchise.

Those many runs were the most by any player in the third season of the IPL in 2010. Sachin also smashed the most boundaries and had the second most half-centuries in the edition of the 2010 IPL. Tendulkar's lone IPL century had also came in this year of 2010.

The King of Indian Premier League and International Cricket is the last skipper to win the Man of The Tournament Award in this cash-rich league tournament. After Virat Kohli in 2016, no captain has won this award as of now in this T20 event, which is played every year in India.

We all know that King Kohli had a great season of 2016 for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru side. He amassed the most runs ever in that single edition and that record hasn’t been broken yet by any player.  Virat Kohli scored 973 runs, which was the highest run amassed by a batter in a single year of the IPL.

Those many runs are also the most in the history of this tournament in a single edition. Virat was the skipper of the Bengaluru side in 2016. He led his team from the front in that edition which took RCB in the finals. Despite Kohli’s heroics, RCB couldn’t lift the trophy because they lost the finals against SRH.
