This player from Australia, Pat Cummins, is the winner of World Test Championship (WTC) and ODI World Cup. Both these wins in the ICC tournament came last year and against India. Cummins is the skipper of Sunrisers Hyderabad in TATA IPL 2024.
He was brought for 20.50 crores, the second highest price ever in this cash-rich league tournament. Cummins was brought to the Orange Army camp for the captaincy purpose.
Aiden Markram has been removed as the skipper after Cummins's inclusion. So far, SRH has played 5 games. They have won 3 and lost two of them.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni has passed the captaincy baton to the young hands of Ruturaj Gaikwad before the start of the TATA IPL 2024 season. Gaikwad has some captaincy experience before the Indian Premier League. He was the one who led the Men in Blue to Gold medal in the Asian Games 2023 in China.
Rutu might also had the exposure of working under the greatest minds of Cricket, MS Dhoni. He might have taken some input from the master before taking this huge responsibility.
CSK has had a mixed-bag season so far. The Yellow Army have lost 2 matches and won three of them in this season from five matches played. CSK is fourth on the points table.
The Prince of Cricket, Shubman Gill is a player who has no captaincy experience at any level of cricket. Gill is the new skipper of Gujarat Titans after Hardik Pandya was brought again by his old franchise of Mumbai Indians.
GT won the first title in 2022 in their first attempt and also made to the finals last year. Those two achievements came under Hardik Pandya.
But now he is the leader of the five-time champion side, MI. Gill has a huge responsibility on his shoulders in this season of TATA IPL 2024. He will have to live up to the expectations of GT fans and the franchise.
