Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has requested additional humanitarian supplies, including medicines and medical equipments, in a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Ukraine's Deputy Foreign Minister, Emine Dzhaparova, who was in India for four days, handed over a letter from Zelenskyy to Union Minister Meenakshi Lekhi, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said on Wednesday.

This was the Ukrainian minister's first official visit to India since the conflict between Russia and Ukraine began in February last year.

Meeting with MEA to build a stronger bond

The next round of foreign office consultations between the two sides will be in Kyiv on a mutually agreed-upon date, according to the Ministry of External Affairs.

The Ukrainian deputy foreign minister also suggested that rebuilding infrastructure in Ukraine could be an opportunity for Indian companies during her meeting with the Secretary of the Ministry of External Affairs, Sanjay Verma.

"During her visit, Dzhaparova emphasised Ukraine's desire to strengthen and deepen its relationship with India," the MEA said in a statement.

The two leaders spoke about bilateral and global issues of mutual concern. Meenakshi Lekhi stated in a tweet that Ukraine has been assured of increased humanitarian assistance and cultural ties and women empowerment were also discussed."

Meanwhile, Emine Dzhaparova called the meeting "fruitful." As India and Ukraine have mutual interests and visions, intensified dialogue on the highest level will be fruitful for our people and security in the world.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Ukrainian President, would like to speak at the G20 summit in India, Dzhaparova stated after her speech at the ICWA.
