Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa meets PM Modi

On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa. Marcello, who is on a four-day visit to India held detailed talks on ways to deepen bilateral relations in many areas including trade and investment. Sousa arrived here on a four-day visit on Thursday night. This is his first visit to India. The last visit of a Portuguese President to India was in 2007.

Officials said the talks between PM Modi and the Portuguese President covered the entire gamut of bilateral relations, including in the areas of trade, investment, and education. Sousa accompanied a high-level delegation to meet with the PM. In the morning, the Portuguese President was formally welcomed at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

President Ram Nath Kovind will meet the Portuguese President on Friday evening. Dinner will be held in his honor this evening. The Portuguese President will visit Maharashtra and Goa during his visit to India.
