According to the reports of the Union Health Ministry, in the year 2015, 1,33,623 people have committed suicide in the country of which 19655 cases have been reported from 53 metros. The highest number of cases are in Chennai (2274), Bangalore (1855) and Delhi (1553). In this list, suicides in Ghaziabad and Faridabad of NCR have also taken 204 and 256 respectively.

According to the report, Delhi has the highest incidence of children under 18 years of age. In this age group, 69 girls and 86 boys have committed suicide here. According to experts, mental stress dominates the school students. Children of Delhi lose their mental balance in the event of scoring and failing in various examinations.

Senior doctors of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Delhi say that children of school and college going age are taking suicidal steps. The additional burden of studies is the main reason behind this. Also, many other reasons work in such a situation. If the family wishes, they can save their children by being vigilant.

According to a report by the World Health Organization, on an average, 11.4 humans commit suicide in every one lakh population worldwide. In India, this rate is almost double, ie 20.9 per one lakh.
