Instagram will Remove Reels Soon which are Similar to TikTok

Instagram decided to downrank or remove those reels which are similar to TikTok content. The aim is to promote more original content which are only created using Instagram reels. Instagram is now targeting those content that is reshared or re-uploaded on Instagram reels from any other short-video-making platforms. Those content will be removed or downranked to promote the original content.

Instagram head Adam Mosseri recently took Twitter platform to announce that the company is adding three major features/changes to the application. In a shared video, Mosseir explained that Instagram will introduce the three main changes/features in the application which is Product tags, Enhanced people tags, and Higher ranking for original reels.

In this video, Mosseri stated, “If you are creating something from zero, you should get more credit than if you reshared or re-upload content from any other third party platforms.” This changes will leave a few things up in the air.

But what happens to Reels that are videos reshared from your handles on other platforms? Are they any less creative than the videos you produce directly on Instagram Reels? We'll find out quite shortly.

Identifying Original Content is Difficult for Instagram

In response to criticism, Mosseri stated that "finding originality is difficult" and that the platform will "iterate over time" what counts as unique and what does not. Until a further explanation is provided, the change might be regarded as an attempt to discourage users from resharing films from sites such as TikTok on Reels.

Instagram Reels Done well in Indian Market

While Reels has done successfully in areas like India, one explanation for this is that TikTok is not permitted here. However, in areas such as the United States, the United Kingdom, and others, Instagram Reels faces stiff competition from TikTok, which remains the largest short video platform.

This would explain why Instagram requires producers to create unique material for Reels rather than simply uploading TikTok videos on the site. After all, it wants fewer videos with the TikTok logo, which is now the case for many of the platform's viral material.

Instagram New Features that will be Added Soon

Meanwhile, Instagram's other two new features are simpler to grasp. Product tags enable consumers to tag items to generate traffic or attention to a business, artist, or corporation that they admire. This functionality has previously been made accessible to certain users, but it will soon be available to all Instagram users.

The 'Enhanced Tags' function allows users to create a category for themselves, such as dancer, rapper, or chef, to help them stand out. When the user is tagged in another post, that category will appear, allowing credit to flow back to the source.
