Amritpal Singh's Uncle and Driver Surrender, But Fugitive Remains at Large

Amritpal Singh, the leader of the pro-Khalistan group Waris Punjab De, has been the centre of a nationwide uproar, particularly in Punjab, for the past three days.

News outlets have claimed that the police have apprehended Amritpal. But, the Punjab Police, which declared Amritpal Singh a fugitive, still stand by its statement that Amritpal is currently absconding.

At the same time, Amritpal's uncle and driver have surrendered to the police on Saturday night i.e. March 19, but the search for Amritpal continues and the Punjab Police is moving fast to trace the Khalistan supporter.

Amritpal's driver, Harpreet Singh, and his uncle, Harjeet Singh, have surrendered to the police in Mehatpur.

The police have also taken custody of Amritpal's Mercedes car that was used by the duo.

Internet services will remain closed in Punjab even today

Today i.e. March 20 marks the third day of police action, with internet services suspended for the past two days and continuing to remain so on Monday.

According to the Punjab Police, the law and order situation in the state is currently under control, and police teams are deployed extensively.

Companies of para-military forces led by Senior Superintendents of Police (SSP) and Commissioners of Police (SP) are conducting flag marches across the state.

Security has been intensified in Amritpal's native village of Jallupur Khera by the Punjab Police, with Section 144 imposed in several districts to prevent protests and violence.

A high alert has been issued in Punjab and the neighbouring state of Himachal.

Ongoing Punjab Police cction results in multiple arrests

The police action initiated on March 18 by the Punjab Police is still ongoing. 112 people have been arrested so far, and police have seized 7 illegal weapons, over 300 bullets, and 3 vehicles.

Additionally, some phones have been recovered and sent for technical analysis.
