Jamshedpur Violence: The atmosphere in Jharkhand's Jamshedpur is not taking the name of calm. Violence has flared up once again after Ram Navami.

According to sources, the tying of meat to a religious flag incensed the public, resulting in a violent confrontation between two communities in the Shastri Nagar locality.

The troublemakers set fire to various shops and an auto-rickshaw on Sunday evening, and police fired tear gas shells to disperse the mob.

Prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the CrPC are in effect in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, after shops and vehicles were set on fire during the clashes. Internet services have also been suspended. Watch full video here...

Jamshedpur Violence: Situation Turned Violent on Sunday

According to local police, tensions in the area had been rising since Saturday, when members of a local organisation discovered a piece of meat tied to a religious flag.

The situation escalated on Sunday evening when various shops were destroyed, resulting in brick-batting on both sides.

An autorickshaw was also set on fire by a mob, prompting police to use tear gas shells.

An adequate police force has been deployed to maintain law and order, according to Shastri Nagar SSP Prabhat Kumar.

East Singhbhum District Deputy Commissioner Vijaya Jadhav stated that some anti-social elements are attempting to disrupt peace and requested the public's help in foiling their plot.

Company of RAF was deployed

A Rapid Action Force (RAF) company was deployed in the city, and security personnel marched with the flag on Monday morning.

Although the number of arrests made is not yet clear, high-ranking police personnel have assured that the situation is now under control.

The force has been deployed throughout the area. Officials from the administration have also met with the peace committee to restore normalcy. They've also asked people not to believe in rumours.
