South African team head coach Mark Boucher has announced that explosive batsman AB de Villiers may play the ICC T20 World Cup 2020 to be held in Australia. However, AB de Villiers has also said that he is ready for this mega event. South Africa team coach Mark Boucher said on Sunday that if AB de Villiers made himself available for the ICC T20 World Cup, he would be a part of this big tournament. Mark Boucher made this statement after losing the last T20 match against England by 5 wickets and the 3-match series 2-1. AB de Villiers has also expressed his desire to return to the team.

South Africa's batsman AB de Villiers said goodbye to international cricket in May 2018. He has been playing the franchisees cricket since then. Former South African team captain AB de Villiers also expressed his desire to play in the ICC World Cup 2019 in England and Wales, but the team management did not support it. At that time, the South Africa Cricket Board had said that AB de Villiers has not played at least two ODIs at the behest of the board. However, Mark Boucher has said that we are no longer placing any such condition.

Former South Africa wicketkeeper-batsman Mark Boucher has said that he is in touch with AB de Villiers. The ego will not come ahead of them at this time, as we are building a strong team for the ICC T20 World Cup to be held in Australia. Boucher has said, "He has confessed in the media and public that he wants to play for South Africa." Boucher further added, "If AB de Villiers is in good form and makes himself available then he will be included in the team. This is not about Ego or anyone else. It is about that we want to send the best team for the World Cup and tries to win the competition." It is believed that AB de Villiers can be included in the South Africa squad in the short format series against Australia.
