NZ Vs SL 2nd Test Match: New Zealand and Sri Lanka will continue to fight in the last red ball match of the series.

The second test match between these two Test-playing nations is the last match of the World Test Championship cycle of 2021 to 2023.

This red ball encounter is being played at Basin Reserve in Wellington which has been started from today, i.e. March 17th 2023.

Devon Conway’s 78 runs put the Kiwis in a dominating position

New Zealand had batted first in the second Test match after the visitors, Sri Lanka won the toss and opted to bowl first. The Kiwis had a decent opening start.

But the home side would have liked that stand to prosper more than it did. The Black Caps openers, Latham and Conway added 87 runs for the opening wicket.

However, Tom Latham was out for 21 runs to Kasun Rajitha. Then the former skipper of New Zealand, Kane Williamson shared a mini-stand with Devon Conway.

New Zealand was going strong and Conway too was inching towards his century. The tea break did the trick for the Lankan Tigers as they picked up well-set Conway for 78 runs on the score of 118 runs.

Kasun Rajitha and Dhananjaya de Silva are the only two bowlers from the Sri Lanka side to pick up one wicket each on the first day of play.

While the rest of the Sri Lankan bowlers had struggled on that Wellington wicket. New Zealand has scored 155 runs for the loss of two wickets on day one in the 48 overs played today i.e. March 17.

But day one of the second Test match between NZ Vs SL ended early because of the bad light and that is the reason why the Sri Lankan team could bowl just 48 overs today, which was also the first day of this Test match at Wellington.

Kane Williamson is not out on 26 runs and Henry Nicholls is unbeaten on 18 runs.

NZ Vs SL 2nd Test Match: What to expectt on second day of last Test match?

The second day of the last Test match will be vital for both teams as they will look to have an upper hand. New Zealand will rely on Williamson, Nicholls, and Daryl Mitchell, who was great in the first test match.

The Kiwis will want these three batters to carry the innings forward and bat throughout the second day. New Zealand should aim to score around four hundred runs tomorrow.

While the Lankan Tigers will want their bowlers to step up and take the remaining eight wickets.

But Sri Lanka should do that cleaning-up job very quickly tomorrow because New Zealand is already in a good position and from here they can take the game away.

Sri Lanka is trailing 0-1 in this series and that should bounce back to win this Test match.
