3 Players From India Should Have Been In The T20 World Cup 2024 Squad

T20 World Cup 2024: India has announced their 15 man squad for the ICC mega event of the twenty overs format. The team will be captained by Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya is the vice skipper of the Men in Blue for that event. However today we shall name the three Indian players who deserved a chance in the T20 World Cup 2024 in West Indies and United States of America. But they have not been picked.

T20 World Cup 2024: The ICC mega event of the shortest format is not far away and like many other teams, the Men in Blue also announced their T20 World Cup 2024 squad. This side will be led by Rohit Sharma and the current skipper of Mumbai Indians, Hardik Pandya will be HITMAN’s deputy for this twenty overs tournament.

Even tough the squad of Team India for the T20 World Cup 2024 looks good with Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah in the 15 member squad. But still here are the three players who should have got a chance to play that ICC event in United States Of America and West Indies.

India’s first match in the T20 World Cup 2024 will be played against Ireland on Wednesday, 5th June 2024 and the much awaited clash against the arch rivals team of Pakistan is on Sunday, 9th June 2024. Here are the three deserving players who weren’t picked in the squad of the Men in Blue in the world cup event of the shortest format.

1. Rinku Singh –

The explosive lower order batter was looked as the finisher at one stage after the semi final loss in the 2022 T20 World Cup which was played in Australia. Rinku Singh also has done well whenever he has got chances with the Indian Team and we all know how Rinku finished off the game versus Gujarat Titans last year's IPL.

He had hit five sixes on the trot against Yash Dayal and won the match for Kolkata Knight Riders. That innings and many such performances earned him a place in the Indian T20I side as well. But now he has been ignored for the T20 World Cup 2024.

Maybe because of his low form in the TATA IPL 2024. But the selectors should have also looked how many chances did Rinku get. KKR has done well in this season mainly because of Salt, Narine, Iyer and Russell with the bat in hand and that’s why Rinku didn’t get most of the opportunities.

Rinku has the talent of putting the ball into the stands quite easily. He can be clam under pressure situations and also be an anchor whenever it is needed. Rinku has scored two half centuries in the T20 International format for India and both of them had come in crunch situations.  India might miss a caliber finisher like Rinku in this T20 World Cup 2024.

2. Mukesh Kumar -

The fast bowler has impressed one and all with his pace, line, lengths and variations. Mukesh has done well in the Test matches and translated that form in the other two forms of the game as well. India has Jasprit Bumrah, the new ball and backend overs specialist.

But if they had picked Mukesh in their 15 man squad, it wouldn’t have harmed the team at all. In fact, Kumar could have been an extra bowling option with the new white cherry in the starting and ending overs. Mukesh can make a difference in the final overs and he is in decent form as well.

Some experts also recommend that Kumar is in a better form than Mohammed Siraj, who has been selected for the T20 World Cup 2024. Mukesh can also bowl those tough overs if needed and like Bumrah, he is also good in nailing those Yorkers at the right time.

3. Jitesh Sharma -

The wicketkeeper batter Jitesh Sharma is another player who bats well in the lower order like Rinku Singh. But the selectors didn’t go with him and they have opted for Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson in India’s T20 World Cup 2024 squad.

Jitesh was looked as the keeper batter in the absence of Pant in the shortest format and at that time, Samson was nowhere around the corner in those matches which India played. But now suddenly, Jitesh has been dropped from the squad and the reason might be because of his poor form in the current season of the Indian Premier League.

The selectors also could have picked Ashutosh Sharma as well, who has done well in the current season. Both the Sharmas could have played the ICC mega event of the T20I format as finisher along side, Hardik, Dube, Axar and Jaddu.
