Most Centuries in Single Season: The Indian Premier League 2023 season has been fun, exciting, and thrilling to watch like all the previous seasons of this tournament.
The contest between the bat and ball has kept the viewers at the edge of their seats because there have been too many nail-biting encounters in this TATA IPL 2023 edition.
Overall, six batsmen have scored the most centuries in a single season of this cash-rich league tournament.
But here are the three Batters who have a chance to repeat this feat in the current edition.
1. Virat Kohli
The former RCB and Indian team skipper Virat Kohli was the first player to smash four centuries and amass the most runs in the IPL in a single season.
In the 2016 season of this cash-rich league tournament, Kohli smashed 973 runs in a single season which is the most and he also scored 4 IPL centuries that season.
In the current edition, Virat is yet to score a century in this 16th edition. He has scored 333 runs so far and if the King scores two or more tons this season then he will be the first player to achieve the rare feat of scoring the most centuries in a single season of this tournament twice in his glorious career.
2. Jos Buttler
The wicketkeeper batter and T20I skipper of England is a leading player in the Rajasthan Royals camp. Buttler was the second player to score the most centuries and smash the most runs in a single season of this tournament.
Last year, in IPL 2022 edition, Jos Buttler scored 873 runs and smashed four centuries like Virat Kohli who did it in 2016.
But this year, Buttler hasn’t been that best yet. He has got starts but he is yet to convert them into a big score.
Buttler can be the player who can repeat his own feat in the IPL and become the first player to amass this record in the remaining matches of this edition.
Till now, Jos Buttler has scored 297 runs with no centuries.
3. Shikhar Dhawan
The PBKS skipper has also been included in this list because he too scored the most centuries in a single season of this tournament. Dhawan has been in good form off late.
Gabbar scored two back-to-back tons in IPL 2020 season when he played for Delhi Capitals (DC). This season, Shikhar can do this again and be the first player to get this milestone in IPL History.
So far Dhawan has scored 292 runs and his best score is unbeaten 99 runs.
