Domestic Season: Kolkata to Host Ranji Trophy Knockout Matches

The new season of Ranji Trophy will be organized in six cities from January 5 next year. During this, each team will have to undergo mandatory five-day quarantine before their matches. The BCCI has also informed that all teams will be allowed to keep a maximum of 30 members, which will include 20 cricketers and 10 support staff members.

Meanwhile, Group C will consist star-studded teams from Mumbai, Karnataka and Delhi, along with multiple-time champions Hyderabad, Maharashtra and Uttarakhand. Last year's runners-up Bengal placed in Group B along with Vidarbha, Haryana, Kerala, Tripura and Rajasthan. The defending winners Saurashtra, Tamil Nadu, Railways, J&K and Goa are in Group D. Group A consists teams from Gujarat, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Services and Assam.

BCCI sent schedule to state associations:

On the other hand, 'Group E' consists of teams from Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Baroda, Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Puducherry. The Plate Group consists of teams from Chandigarh, Meghalaya, Bihar, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh. Group A matches will be held in Mumbai, B and C in Bangalore, D in Ahmedabad, E in Thiruvananthapuram and Plate Group in Chennai. The BCCI has decided to organize several domestic tournaments this time, including the Ranji Trophy as well as the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has prepared the day-wise schedule and has sent mails to all the state associations asking which stadium is ready for the matches. The BCCI has given an extension till September 1 for this. The BCCI has also informed that the knockout matches of the 2021-22 season of Ranji Trophy will take place in Kolkata. At the same time, the knockout matches of the Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament will take place in Delhi. The knockout matches of the Vijay Hazare tournament will take place in Chennai.
