The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has agreed to play limited-overs series against Sri Lanka. BCCI has to get government approval because of Coronavirus outbreak. According to a report, a bilateral series has been agreed between the BCCI and the Sri Lankan Cricket Board. This series is to be held in August. However, Indian players will need practice before this.
On Tuesday, the BCCI has confirmed that SL Cricket has started preparing for the series. According to reports, the Sri Lankan Cricket Board has to get approval from the country's Sports Ministry for the resumption of bilateral cricket series in the country.
The Indian team can play the three-match ODI series and the T20 series of the same number of matches on the Sri Lanka tour. The series was earlier scheduled for June but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Meanwhile, SriLanka is also looking forward to host the Asia Cup this year. The tournament is originally scheduled to be held in Pakistan, but the BCCI has made it clear that the Indian team will not play there. In such a situation, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) chief Shammi Silva has said that the Pakistan Cricket Board is hosting the event of the SLC and the Pakistan Cricket Board is ready for this in view of the epidemic because there are very less number of coronavirus cases.
