Akash Singh

On Sunday, Bangladesh Cricket Board appointed opener Tamim Iqbal as the new captain of the one-day team. Tamim will now replace Mashrafe Mortaza. He will take over from April 1. Bangladesh Cricket Board Chairman Najmul Hasan made the announcement at a press conference after a meeting of the governing body's board of directors. "The board has unanimously selected Tamim Iqbal as the new one-day captain," he said.

It is worth noting that Mortaza had announced that his third match against Zimbabwe would be his last match as captain of Bangladesh. However, as captain, he won the last match and defeated Zimbabwe 3–0 to win the one-day series. He has captaincy, but he will continue to play matches on behalf of the team.

After this, the Bangladesh team was looking for a successful one-day captain, which was unanimously selected by the board on Sunday. Let us tell you that Mashrafe Mortaza has commanded the team for more than five years. Tamim became the first Bangladeshi batsman to complete 7000 one-day runs last week. He has led the team in three one-day matches so far.
