Australian Skipper Aaron Finch Ruled Out of West Indies, Bangladesh Series; to Undergo Surgery

Australia skipper Aaron Finch has been ruled out of the ongoing West Indies tour and Bangladesh due to a knee injury. Finch will return to Australia from the West Indies to complete 14 days quarantine. He is then likely to undergo surgery. However, the Cricket Australia medical team are optimistic that he will recover before the ICC T20 World Cup.

Meanwhile, the Kangaroo team had to face defeat against West Indies in the first ODI on Sunday.  If we look at the T20 World Cup, it is a big setback for the Australian team, because the Kangaroo team preparing for the T20 World Cup to be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Finch suffered knee injury during T20 series:

Actually, Aaron Finch suffered a knee injury during the T20 series on the tour of West Indies, from which he has not yet recovered. This is the reason why wicket-keeper batsman Alex Carey was given the captaincy of the team for the ODI series. Although he was made the captain of the team for the first one-day match only. But if Aaron Finch could not recover till the second match, then he got a chance to lead the team further.

Australia was to play a four-match ODI series against the West Indies. But it has now been reduced to three matches, as one match had to be canceled due to COVID positive case. Now the last match of the series will be played on 26 July. At the same time, Australia has to play a five-match T20 series against Bangladesh from August 3. In which who will be the captain of the team, it will be a matter to be seen. Many veteran players are not traveling with the team.
