3 Players With A Hat-Trick And Century In Indian Premier League
TATA IPL: The IPL has been a stellar kind of a tournament and it is known as the best in the world amongst all the other leagues of the shortest format, which have come afterwards.
This cash-rich league event in the T20 format has given rise to BBL, PSL, SLPL, BPL and many more. But the IPL has the highest crowd viewership and the prize money.
In today’s game of the TATA IPL 2024, Lucknow Super Giants and Chennai Super Kings will take on each other. CSK is on the number 3 position while LSG is ranked fifth.
This game is 34th match of this edition and it will be played at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow. The match will start at 7.30 PM Indian Standard Time (IST) and Local, 2 PM GMT.
Before this classic encounter starts, let us see which players have achieved the milestones of a Hat Trick and a Century in the history of the Indian Premier League.
There are just three players who have got to this unique milestone. One player is from India while the other two players are from Australia and West Indies in this list of three.
1. Rohit Sharma
The current Indian skipper is the only Indian player to score a century and get a hat trick in the Indian Premier League. In yesterday’s game, HITMAN also scored 6500 runs in his career of this cash-rich league tournament.
As we all know Rohit didn’t start his career with Mumbai Indians. Before joining the MI camp, he played for Deccan Chargers.
Sharma ji was part of the title-winning team of Deccan Chargers in 2009 under the leadership of Adam Gilchrist. Rohit has scored two centuries in his career of the IPL. His first ever ton came against Kolkata Knight Riders and his second ton came in this current edition of the TATA IPL 2024 against Chennai Super Kings.
Against KKR, he scored an unbeaten 109 runs in the season of IPL 2012 and 12 years later, HITMAN smashed his second ton in IPL 2024 edition on his home ground.
Sharma scored an unbeaten 105 runs. Rohit took his only IPL hat trick against his current franchise MI in the 2009 edition and he completed his hat trick in just 12 balls, which means two overs. Unfortunately, Rohit doesn’t bowl nowadays in any of the formats.
2. Shane Watson
The former all-rounder of Australia, Shane Watson is the second player to feature in this list of three players. Watto picked up his only hat trick in the IPL 2014 edition against Sunrisers Hyderabad when played for Rajasthan Royals.
He picked up the three wickets of Shikhar Dhawan, who now plays for Punjab Kings, his Aussie mate Moises Henriques and Karn Sharma. Watson had scored four centuries in his IPL career. Two each for the Double R’s and the Yellow Army.
3. Sunil Narine
Very few players have the caliber to achieve the feat of scoring a hundred and also taking an hat trick in the Indian Premier League. That’s why, only three players have been listed in this segment. Sunil Narine is the latest entrant.
Recently he scored his maiden hundred of this cash-rich league tournament against RR. The West Indian spin bowler opens the innings for KKR in the Indian Premier League and he has given KKR side some explosive starts as well.
He scored 109 runs in a match played in TATA IPL 2024 edition. Narine is also the mystery spin bowler of his franchise team. His only hat trick was against Kings XI Punjab, which is now known as the Punjab Kings. Narine picked that in the 2013 season of the Indian Premier League.
