Oreva Group, a company known for manufacturing wall clocks under the Ajanta brand, has been awarded the contract to renovate, operate and repair the 100-year-old suspension bridge on the Machchhu river.

Around 300 people were on the bridge at the time of accident

A special investigation team (SIT) set up by the Gujarat government cited several lapses such as poor maintenance by the Oreva group, failure to limit the number of people on the bridge and unrestricted sale of tickets.

According to the police, around 300 people were on the bridge at that time and the bridge collapsed due to cable breakage.

Patel has been listed as the 10th accused along with nine people arrested earlier, including subcontractors, daily wage labourers working as ticket clerks and security guards. But the opposition alleges that big people are still absconding.
