Cannes Film Festival 2022: Shaunak Sen's ‘All That Breathes’ Documentary Wins Golden Eye Award
Cannes Film Festival 2022: Filmmaker Shaunak Sen's 'All That Breathes' on Saturday won the 2022 L'OEil d'or (The Golden Eye) Award for Best Documentary at Cannes Film Festival. 'All That Breaths' is about the lives of two brothers from Delhi, Mohammad Saud and Nadeem Shahzad, who rescue and treat injured birds, especially the black eagle.
Also, it has been shown how environmental pollution affects the eagles and how they are keeping their distance from Delhi. Recently 'All That Breaths' premiered in a special screening.
Cannes Film Festival 2022: Shaunak Sen is the second Indian to win the award at Cannes
The 90-minute long film was adjudged the winner by the jury. The Jury included Polish filmmaker Agnieszka Holland, Ukrainian writer-director Iryna Tsilyk, French actor Pierre Deladonchamps, Journalist Alex Vicente and Moroccan writer-filmmaker Hicham Falah.
In this award, Shaunak Sen has received a cash prize of 5,000 Euro (approximately Rs 4.16 lakh). The L'OEil d'or Documentary Award is also known as The Golden Eye Award. He is the second Indian to win the award at Cannes. Earlier last year, Payal Kapadia's 'A Night of Knowing Nothing' won the L'OEil d'or award.

Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur on Saturday congratulated filmmaker Shaunak Sen on receiving The Golden Eye Award for 'All That Breathes'.
He tweeted, "Congratulations to Indian filmmaker Shaunak Sen on receiving the L'OEil d'or award for his documentary 'All That Breathes'. I am sure this will inspire other documentary makers from India to perform better on global platforms. "
CPM leader Sitaram Yechury has also congratulated Shaunak Sen. He tweeted and said that congratulations Shaunak Sen. It's a wonderful week for India and of course JNU.
The 90-minute long documentary will be available on HBO and HBO Max in 2023 after its US theatrical release. Shaunak Sen, an alumnus of Jamia Millia Islamia and Jawaharlal Nehru University, says he is extremely proud to be on HBO's roster of showcasing various programs of the finest quality.
