MLAs Rajendra Singh, Jogendra Singh Awana, Wajib Ali, Lakhan Singh Meena, Sandeep Yadav and Deepchand said that they are merging their Legislature Party with the Congress. A Congress leader said- 'All the six BSP MLAs were in constant contact with Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and on Monday he joined the Congress.

Significantly, the 200-member Rajasthan Legislative Assembly has hundred MLAs. The Congress also has the support of a Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) MLA. Apart from this, 12 independents in 13 have also supported. Two seats are still vacant.

In the 2018 Rajasthan assembly elections, the Congress got a total of 99 seats. Whereas BJP had to satisfy itself with 73 seats. Although the Congress emerged as the single largest party in this election, it lost one seat by an absolute majority. The Congress formed its own government with the help of BSP and Independent MLAs. After all the 6 BSP MLAs joined the Congress, the Gehlot government has now become an absolute majority government on its own.
