American chipmaker Qualcomm has launched three new chipsets in India. The special thing is that inbuilt ISRO Navic has been supported. The company has launched Snapdragon 720G, 662 and 460 in India.

Talking of GPS, it belongs to the US government. This satellite-based radionavigation system also uses American Airforce. Now India also has similar technology and in the coming times, you will see this in smartphones.

The company has given the support of Indian Constellation i.e. NavIC. It has been developed by India's space agency ISRO. You can call it Indian GPS.

In the coming time, Chinese smartphone makers Xiaomi and Realme will launch smartphones with this chipset. NavIC support will be given in these smartphones. NavIC was launched in 2016. Now it will be seen soon in smartphones.

ISRO has created eight satellites for NavIC, out of which seven satellites will indicate location, timing, navigation and positioning, while the 8th satellite will provide messaging service.

ISRO Chairman Dr. K. Sivan has said, "The availability of NavIC on different mobile platforms will help improve the geolocation capability in smartphones. With this, Indian customers will get to use India's solution every day.

It is worth noting that not only in smartphones, but also the plan is that NavIC will be used for the Indian Air Force as well. It can also be used for navigation systems in fighter jets. Apart from this, the NavIC tracker has been made mandatory in all commercial vehicles after April 1, 2019.

If we talk about the coverage of NavIC, it is for India only and covers an area of 1,500 km. However, its scope can be expanded later. It will be interesting to see whether NavIC is able to replace American GPS in smartphones or not.
