In Russia, more than a thousand people have died due to this virus. Russian health officials said on Thursday that the number of total cases increased to 106,498 after 7,099 new cases were reported.

The number of infected people may be higher because not everyone is being tested and many patients are not showing signs of the disease. The lockdown has been in force since late March in large parts of Russia and people have been ordered to stay at homes. Meanwhile Russian President Vladimir Putin has extended the lockdown to 11 May.
