Ashok Diwan, former Indian hockey player and a member of the 1975 World Cup-winning team, is stranded in the US due to travel-related restrictions and is seeking government help to return to India. The 65-year-old Diwan wrote a letter to the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) President Narendra Batra, requesting him to talk to the higher officials. After this, the letter has been sent to Sports Minister Kiran Rijiju and he gave it to the Ministry of External Affairs. The Indian Embassy in Washington will contact Diwan soon.

Diwan first wrote to Batra, the head of the International Hockey Federation (FIH), 'I need your help because I am stuck in America and I am having health problems. I had to go to a hospital in California in an emergency last week. I am not feeling well these days and also do not have insurance here. The medical expenses here are quite expensive. First I had to return home from Air India on April 20, but due to the situation arising out of this epidemic, the travel dates had to be pushed forward.
