Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar has announced on Tuesday itself that if the daily new cases of corona in the city cross the level of 20,000, then a lockdown will be imposed in Mumbai. At present, Section-144 is in force in Mumbai and strict steps are being taken by the government and the local administration to stop the pace of Corona. Meanwhile, BMC has made it mandatory for all passengers to undergo rapid RT-PCR tests at the international airport by issuing a revised new guideline.

Rapid RT-PCR test mandatory for all air travellers

Along with this, because of the increasing cases of the corona, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has made rapid RT-PCR tests mandatory for all international passengers arriving at the Mumbai International Airport. For this, BMC has revised and issued the old guideline. According to a BMC official, the new guidelines issued last week have come into effect from Monday. The revised order states that all international passengers found infected in the rapid RT-PCR test will have to undergo regular RT-PCR tests at the airport itself. If they are found infected in that too, the sample will be immediately sent for genome sequencing and the passenger will be sent to institutional isolation.
