Tata’s OmiSure Becomes First ICMR Approved Kit to Detect Omicron

Along with corona in India, the cases of new variant Omicron are increasing rapidly. Meanwhile, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has approved the OmiSure kit, the country's first indigenous kit to detect Omicron. It has been prepared by Tata Medical. Let us inform that till Tuesday, the total number of Omicron infections in India has increased to 1,892.

According to information received from media reports, India's indigenous Omicron test kit has been prepared by Mumbai-based Tata Medical. This new kit was approved by ICMR on December 30, the information of which has now come to the fore. At present, another kit is being used to detect Omicron infection in India.

This multiplex kit is being marketed by Thermo Fisher of America. This kit detects Omicron with the S-Gene Target Failure (SGTF) strategy. Tata Medical's OmiSure kit, which is approved by the ICMR to detect Omicron, has now been renamed Tata MD Check RT-PCR OmiSure to detect Omicron.

Let us tell you that Omicron is a new variant of Corona itself. It is not considered as deadly as Delta or Delta Plus and people infected with it are getting cured in three-four days, but it is spreading much faster than that. According to the Health Ministry, the total number of Omicron cases in the country has risen to 1,892. The states with the most Omicron cases are Maharashtra and Delhi, with 568 and 382 cases respectively. Only 766 of the 1,892 Omicron patients have recovered.

According to the information given by the Union Health Ministry on Tuesday morning, 37,379 new cases of coronavirus have been registered in India in the last 24 hours, while 11,007 people recovered during this period. However, 124 people died of corona.

With this, the total cases of corona in the country have increased to 3,49,60,261, while the total number of active cases has reached 1,71,830. However, it is a matter of relief that so far 1,46,70,18,464 people have been vaccinated with anti-coronavirus in India.
