Social media platform Twitter is going to close those accounts, in which there has been no activity for many years. The company's CEO Elon Musk gave this information on Monday. He said that this may reduce the follower count of many users.

However, till when it will be done, Musk has not yet given its details. As per Twitter's policy, users are required to log into their accounts at least once every 30 days to avoid permanent removal due to prolonged inactivity.

Earlier this month, National Public Radio stopped posting content on its 52 official Twitter feeds in protest of the Twitter label. In such a situation, Musk threatened the public broadcaster that he would reassign the Twitter account to another company by National Public Radio.

Twitter will delete 150 crore accounts

Earlier, Musk had announced the removal of crores of inactive Twitter accounts. Musk wrote in a tweet on 9 December 2022, 'Twitter will soon start freeing up the name space of 1.5 billion (150 crore) accounts.'

Space will be free, but user base will decrease

This decision of Musk will benefit those users who want a particular user name but are unable to get it because someone has already taken it and is not using it. Space will be freed by this move of Musk, but it will also reduce Twitter's user base.
