Twitter Shows Gilgit-Baltistan As Part Of India, Pakistan's Official Account Blocked In This Area

Giving a blow to Pakistan, the micro-blogging site Twitter has described Gilgit-Baltistan as a part of India. Twitter has blocked the official accounts of the Government of Pakistan here. However, the Government of Pakistan says that only a few smartphone users are facing this problem.

On Sunday, when users tweeted from here, the people of the area were told to be in the part of India as the location was of Kashmir. Users tried to access the government's handles for a long time, but every time they got the reply, 'Account blocked in India as per legal requirement'.

Since then many users are sharing its screen shots on Twitter. Yasir Hussain, a resident of Gilgit-Baltistan's Rahimabad tweeted, 'I am in Gilgit Baltistan and @GovtofPakistan's tweets are not visible on Twitter. It states that the account is frozen in India as per legal requirement.

Official handles of Pakistan government are banned in India from 2023

From March 2023, the official handles of the Government of Pakistan have been banned in India. In the year 2022, the account was stopped twice after legal complaints. Twitter is bound to freeze all accounts in response to an order issued by a court in any country or a reasonable legal demand.

India-Pakistan dispute over Gilgit-Baltistan

The part of India which has been occupied by Pakistan since 1947, only 15% of the area is in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK). 85% of it is in Gilgit-Baltistan or Northern Areas. It is the core area of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

The Indus River enters Pakistan only through Gilgit-Baltistan. The seats are still kept vacant in our Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly. Legally India considers it as its part which Pakistan has illegally occupied.
