In a significant development for Apple's expansion plans in one of the world's rapidly growing smartphone markets, the tech giant has unveiled the exterior of its inaugural official store in Mumbai, India, as it pushes up efforts to promote local production in support of the Central government's 'Made in India' drive.

Apple, the world's biggest technology company, is preparing to open its first-ever offline retail presence in Mumbai's Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC). It will have a store in Jio World Drive Mall.

Special Opening of Apple Store

Though no official date has been set, it is expected that the long-awaited Apple store will open this month. Apple has also created a unique playlist to commemorate the new store's debut.

The playlist can be found on Apple Music. "Dance to the sound of Mumbai with a playlist honouring India's first Apple shop," the website says.

Some of the prominent Bollywood songs on the playlist are Chal Bombay, Jhume jo Pathaan, Mumbai Dancing, Ta Dhom, Yeh hai Bombay Meri Jaan, and others.

According to reports, Apple intends to open stores in Delhi, Pune, and Bangalore. There are rumours that the business would establish a second store at Select City Walk Mall in New Delhi, measuring 12,000 square feet.

"Inspired by Bombay's traditional Kaali Peeli taxi art, the Apple BKC creative features colourful versions of the decals mixed with other Apple items and services that will be accessible for our consumers to discover," the company said.

The store's advertising includes a cheery welcome to passers-by with the famous Apple greeting "Hello Mumbai."
