JDS leader HD Revanna has received significant relief from the court in Karnataka. The court has granted him bail with conditions in the kidnapping case, with a bail bond of five lakh rupees. Additionally, he was required to present two sureties in court.
On Monday, the Public Representative Court directed Revanna to cooperate with the SIT investigation and refrain from tampering with evidence or intimidation. Along with presenting two sureties, he also has to furnish a bond of five lakh rupees.
In court, Revanna's lawyer CV Nagesh argued, "The alleged victim has been in my (Revanna's) employment as a cook for more than 10 years. Sending a message to her to return home is not kidnapping. She is not just an employee or cook. She is also my relative."
Nagesh argued in court that the basic elements of Section 364A are present in Revanna's case. He stated that no threat was made using wealth or power, and there is no evidence to support this.
Meanwhile, after HD Revanna was granted bail by the Public Representative Court, his supporters and JDS activists are celebrating with joy.
Following Revanna's bail, his supporters are expressing their happiness by bursting firecrackers.
The case against HD Revanna involves allegations related to an alleged sexual assault incident captured in a purported obscene video. The Karnataka government formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the matter.
The team informed a special court on May 9th that the woman who was sexually assaulted was allegedly kidnapped at the behest of HD Revanna.
HD Revanna is the father of Prajwal Revanna, who is the main accused in the alleged obscene video case. Prajwal Revanna is a Member of Parliament from Hassan and is currently absconding in this case. Meanwhile, Revanna has been granted conditional bail with a bond of 5 lakh rupees.
According to a report by The Indian Express, the woman who HD Revanna allegedly kidnaped had been working at his house for six years. According to the report, the woman was forcibly taken from her home by Revanna's people on April 29th.
On May 5th, the victim was found in a field 40 kilometres away from Revanna's house. It has been reported that this field also belongs to an acquaintance of HD Revanna.
