Corona Virus: US Evacuated 294 of its Civilians Stranded in Pakistan

Pakistan relaxed the ban on international flights in the wake of the evacuation of stranded US citizens, after which 294 people, including nine US diplomats, were evacuated by US private aircraft. On March 21, Pakistan had banned all international flights to control the corona virus epidemic.

According to the news of Dawn (Pakistan's newspaper and website), on Friday, the special aircraft first landed at Karachi Airport and then went to Islamabad. A total of 175 American passengers, including nine diplomats from Islamabad, boarded the plane from Karachi. Special arrangements were made to check the corona virus symptoms in passengers at both airports.

All of them were screened while the goods were also transition free. Earlier on March 22, several employees of the US Embassy in Islamabad had returned to the US in a private company aircraft. Amidst all this, about 195 Pakistani nationals stranded in Istanbul, Turkey, also arrived at Islamabad International Airport on Friday night by Pakistani aircraft.

It should be noted that the number of corona virus cases in Pakistan increased to 2,708 on Saturday. In Punjab province alone, its figure has crossed 1000. According to 'National Health Services', Covid-19 has killed 40 people so far, although 140 people in the country have recovered after its infection.

Punjab province has emerged as the main center of the disease in Pakistan where a total of 1072 cases have been reported. Corona virus infection has been confirmed in 839 in Sindh, 343 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 175 in Balochistan, 193 in Gilgit-Baltistan, 75 in Islamabad, 11 in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
