IPL 2024: The Indian Premier League 2024 season will be played in the months of March and April. The mini auctions of this cash rich league tournament will be held in Dubai on 19th December 2023.
With Hardik Pandya back with his old franchise team of Mumbai Indians (MI), this young opener from Team India who plays all three forms of the game will lead his side in the IPL 2024 edition.
The team of Gujarat Titans (GT) had won their maiden title in the season of IPL 2022, when they entered this cash league tournament for the first time in that edition.
The Titans also reached last season's finals but couldn’t defend their crown as they lost to Chennai Super Kings in the finals. Both of these achievements for GT came under the leadership of Hardik Pandya.
But now Gujarat Titans will miss the captaincy service of Hardik Pandya as he has gone back to Mumbai Indians. Shuman Gill will be the new leader of their franchise side from the IPL 2024 edition.
Gill has been a terrific opener for India across the formats and he has played extremely well in this cash rich league tournament as well. Gill was the orange cap holder in IPL 2023 season. He had scored 890 runs from just 17 matches.
The Indian opener will be one of the youngest skipper of an IPL franchise. At just 24, Gill will be the full-time captain of his franchise side. Gill has said that he is eagerly waiting to captain the team of Gujarat Titans in the upcoming side of the Gujarat Titans in IPL 2024.
Virat Kohli was the youngest skipper in the IPL. He was the captain of Royal Challenge Bangalore side when he was just 22 years old.
Shubman Gill also has won an award of Sports Leader of the Year in 2023. That award was given to Gill by popular television channel CNBCTV18.
In that awards ceremony, the Indian opener had highly praised Ashish Nehra, the Head Coach of the franchise team of Gujarat Titans. Gill said that Nehra Ji is a very good mentor of the side.
When asked on his new role in IPL 2024, Gill said that he will be the captain of the franchise side of Gujarat Titans in the next season. That challenge sounds nice for him and that also allows him to work on himself more.
He is excited to learn a greater deal of knowledge using those experiences which he will gain from those matches and that will benefit him in the upcoming years.
