IPL 2024: The Indian Premier League has been a platform where entertainment, thrill and drama all meet at one place. The IPL is a platform where the players show their talent in front of million people and that’s why this Twenty20 tournament is also called where talent meets opportunity. IPL also gives a chance to a youngster to share their dressing room with a legend of the game.
The last season of the Indian Premier League in 2023 was a classic one as well just like all the previous editions. The Chennai Super Kings franchise clinched their 5th IPL trophy and they have equalled the Mumbai Indians franchise side in this regard. CSK won the final against Gujarat Titans on their home ground to win their 5th trophy in IPL 2023 season.
The franchise of Chennai Super Kings was the first side to defend their crown in the history of the Indian Premier League. Under Mahendra Singh Dhoni, CSK won their first title in 2010 and they successfully defended that in 2011 under the same skipper.
The Super Kings also came close of repeating that feat in 2019 as well. But they lost to Rohit Sharma’s MI and in 2020, MI became the second and last team to defend their IPL crown when that entire season was played in United Arab Emirates.
However, in the upcoming edition of IPL 2024, Chennai Super Kings might find it hard to defend their crown as they will not have their main player in their squad.
The star all-rounder from England was brought for 16.25 cores Indian rupees last year. But he didn’t justice for that paid money last season and he is not available for the next year's season as well.
Ben Stokes, the red ball format skipper and a terrific all-rounder from the team of England has opted out of the IPL 2024 edition because Stokesy wants to manage his workload.
Ben was the part of ODI World Cup 2023 and he took a U-turn from his retirement in the one-day international format. Now the all-rounder will go in for surgery and will be in the road of recovery before the five-match red ball series starts in India.
The Chennai Super Kings franchise will release Ben Stokes ahead of the auctions for IPL 2024 season and the Yellow Army franchise is in full support of Ben in his decision to skip the 2024 season of the Indian Premier League to manage his workload because many important assignments are up for England as they will play the five Test matches and Stokesy will also play the 2024 T20 World Cup in West Indies and United States of America, where England is the defending champions of that tournament.
