In the first two editions of the Indian Premier League, 2008 and 2009 the winning prize money was Rs INR 4.8 crore each. In the next four seasons of the IPL, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013, the winning prize money of this league event was 10 crore INR each. In the editions of 2014, 2015 and 2017, the winning prize money was 17 crore INR each.
While in the Indian Premier League seasons of 2016, 2019, 2021, 2023 and 2024, the winning prize money was of 20 crores each.
But in 2020, due to the coronavirus pandemic and lockdown, the IPL winning prize money went back and down to 10 crores INR.
Since then, the winning prize money hasn’t gone down and the winners of this cash-rich league tournament will get 20 crores as their winning price money. The TATA IPL 2024 season will start from next Friday, 22nd March 2024 at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
