PSL 2024: Islamabad United and Karachi Kings played the match number 15th of the Pakistan Super League 2024 on 28th February 2024. This PSL 2024 match was played at National Stadium in Karachi.
The double K’s Karachi Kings batted first and posted a decent score of 165 runs for the loss of five wickets. They reached that score mainly because of Kieron Pollard’s unbeaten 48 runs.
But it was Islamabad United who won the match by 7 wickets and that was due to Colin Munro’s blistering innings in a run chase of 166 runs. This opener from New Zealand scored 82 runs which sealed the game for the team of Islamabad United.
The openers of IU (Islamabad United) lead a solid foundation in a run chase. They added 108 runs for the 1st wicket and that too in just 11.3 overs.
Then it was just a mere formality for the middle-order batters to chase down the remaining score. Agha Salman and the skipper of IU, Shadab Khan were the not-out batters who chased that score down with ease and without any hiccups. Colin Munro was the player of the match in this game for his solid knock of 82 runs.
The hard-hitting batsman from West Indies, Kieron Pollard is an important wicket in all forms of the game. But he is more of an impact player in a T20 format. Pollard was the one who took the Karachi Kings team to a decent total of 165 runs in their quota of 20 overs. But this batsman should have been dismissed on the last delivery of their innings.
However, his chance wasn’t taken by the fielders of the Islamabad United side. In the last ball when Karachi Kings batted, Hunain Shah bowled a full toss delivery to Kieron Pollard, who tried to muscle the ball down the ground.
England’s Alex Hales and Pakistan’s Shadab Khan come to catch that ball from long on and long off respectively. But they had a conclusion and that catch was spilled by both the fielders of Islamabad United.
After that collision, both the players, Shadab and Alex fell flat on the ground and the physio of the Islamabad United side ran onto the ground to see if those two players were fine. Luckily, Hales and Skipper Khan didn’t get too much of hurt.
Alex Hales was seen batting in that run chase, where he scored 47 runs and spin bowling all rounder, cum skipper Shahdab Khan also batted and he was unbeaten on 10 runs in that run chase. Now Islamabad United is second on the points in PSL 2024.
