Indian Batsmen with T20I Century: India won the three-match series of the shortest format by a margin of 2-1 again New Zealand in Ahmedabad.
The Indian batters gave a solid performance and posted a daunting score for the Kiwis to chase.
India won the toss and opted to bat first in the 3rd T20I match yesterday i.e Feb 01. The hosts scored 234 runs in their allotted 20 overs.
Shubman Gill scored his maiden T20I Hundred and laid the foundation for a thumping win.
The bowlers of the men in blue side backed it up with a brilliant show as New Zealand were bundled out for just 66 runs and India won the contest by 168 runs.
Today we shall name the seven batters from the men in the blue side who have slammed a T20I Hundred in their careers.
MR IPL, Suresh Raina was the first Indian batsman to smash a century in the shortest format for India. Suresh had achieved this feat in a T20 World Cup game against a strong South African bowling lineup.
Raina was the main man when the team was under Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Mahi Bhai used Raina as an all-rounder, and he batted in the middle order for the men in blue side.
In the world cup game of the shortest format, Suresh Raina smashed 101 runs from just 60 deliveries and he also became the first Indian to score a hundred in the T20 International format in the ICC mega event.
Raina's ton propelled to a 16-run win over the Proteas. Overall, Raina was a good batsman in the limited-overs format for India.
He had played 78 games in the shortest format and scored 1604 runs for the side.
Hit Man is the second Indian batter to score a ton in the shortest format. He achieved this feat against South Africa in 2015 at Dharamshala.
As we all know, Rohit Sharma’s career has been changed upwards since he started opening the innings for India.
The credit goes to the former Indian legendary captain, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, for allowing Rohit Sharma to bat as an opener. Rohit scored 106 runs and recorded his first-ever hundred in the shortest format.
But this ton from Sharma Ji went in vain as South Africa stunned India while chasing a competitive score of 199 runs.
Later, Rohit hit three more tons in T20I and is the only batter to score four T20I Hundreds to his name.
Highly talented Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Kannur Lokesh Rahul is the third batsman from India to score a century in the T20 International format.
KL Rahul has also scored more than one T20I century, just like Rohit Sharma. Rahul's first hundred in the shortest format came against West Indies in 2016 while batting in the middle order.
Rahul scored an unbeaten 110 runs from 51 deliveries. But he couldn't guide India to a victory in that match as the men in blue lost the game by just one run.
Two years later, Rahul hit another ton in the shortest format, and this was against England in 2018. Rahul scored 101 runs and helped India chase a modest score in the end.
Deepak Hooda became the fourth Indian men’s cricket player to smash a ton in the shortest format for India. Hooda is an immensely talented all-rounder, and he bats in the middle order for the men in blue side.
He got the opportunity against Ireland in the two-match series and made them count with his brilliant batting display.
In the rain-hit encounter, Hooda was asked to open the innings. He guided India to a comfortable win in that game, and in the final match of the two-match T20I series, Deepak was promoted to number three, and he smashed his first ton in the shortest format.
India had lost Ishan Kishan early after they opted to bat first in that game. But Hooda shared a great partnership with Samson to ensure that India would post a mammoth total in front of the Irish team.
Deepak scored 104 runs from just 57 deliveries and helped India to score 225 runs in the end.
The middle-order batsman from the Mumbai Indians side and team India, Suryakumar Yadav has scored 3 centuries in the shortest format.
Suryakumar is a talented youngster who showed his worth with the bat. His 1st ton came when India was chasing a target of 215 runs.
Surya came to bat when India had lost Pant, Kohli, and Rohit Sharma early. Suryakumar Yadav and Shreyas Iyer took control of the proceedings and helped India to be in the tough run chase.
SKY (Suryakumar Yadav) looked in fine form. But Shreyas was struggling at the other end. SKY took most of the responsibility and tried his best to get India over the line.
But the England bowlers were good in this game, and Surya's 117-run knock went in vain as the hosts won the match by 17 runs.
Then Sky hit two more tons in T20Is. He scored one each against New Zealand and Sri Lanka. Now SKY is the number one batter in the shortest format.
The former skipper Virat Kohli too has been named in this list. He is the sixth Indian batter to score a ton in the shortest format.
King Kohli achieved this feat against Afghanistan in the 2022 Asia Cup which was played in the T20I format. Virat scored 122 runs.
India won the series against New Zealand mainly because of Shubman Gill. His majestic ton allowed The Blues to pile up 235 and Gill had batted for the whole 20 overs.
He was unbeaten on 126 runs from just 63 balls. Gill is the seventh Indian batter to achieve this feat in the shortest format.
