IND Vs ENG: The traditional rival between IND Vs ENG will still continue as there are still two more red ball matches to be played in this series of five Test matches. The Men in Blue are up with a lead of 2-1 in this series. They have won the second and the third match quite comprehensively after their loss in the first match in Hyderabad.

Yashaswi Jaiswal is the latest double-centurion from the Blues in this series. The opener has also amassed the most runs in the first three matches as well while Boom Boom Bumrah has been the highest wicket-taker from the home side in three matches played so far. Jasprit Bumrah will be rested for the fourth Test match in Ranchi.

One sad news is that India will continue to miss KL Rahul in this series. The Karnataka batter played the first Test. But due to his fitness concerns, Rahul has been ruled out of the 4th red ball match of this five-match series and his participation in the last Test match in Dharamshala will depend on his clearance of the fitness Test.

IND Vs ENG: Joe Edward Root Was The Last Batsman From England Who Scored A Double Century

Joe Edward Root has been a stellar name in the International Cricket arena. The former skipper of England is still the best batter for his country in the fifty-overs and red ball format. Root has been a backbone of the batting team of England.

He made his debut in the traditional format of the game against India in Nagpur in 2012, where he scored 73 runs in the 1st innings and an unbeaten 20 runs in the second innings.

England was the last team to win a Test Match Series in India during that series when Joe Root made his Test debut. The first Test match of that series was drawn and India won the second Test match.

But the visitors, England won two back-to-back matches of that Test series in Mumbai and Kolkata to win that series of the red ball format in 2012.

Root also captained England. In 2021, when England toured India for the last time before this current series, the visitors, England won the opening match in Chennai.

Joe Root was the skipper of his side and he smashed a double ton in that Test match. He was the first player to smash 200 runs in his 100th Test match.

Root was also the last batter from his side, England to score a double century in the red ball format in India. Ollie Pope came close to reaching that milestone in the current series.

But Pope fell 4 runs short of that score as he was out on 196 runs in Hyderabad. Ollie played a brilliant innings that took the game from India.

If England wants to do well and win the series from here than they will need Joe Root to play another captain’s knock like he played in the opening match of the 2021 five-match Test series.

In this ongoing series, Root hasn’t been that player that his fans are used of seeing him. He has scored 29 and 2 runs in Hyderabad, 5 and 16 runs in Vizag and 18 and 7 runs in Rajkot.
