ENG Vs NZ 3rd ODI Match: The runners-up of the 2019 ODI World Cup, New Zealand is in England for the One Day International series and the series of the shortest format.
The four-match T20 International series was drawn to 2 all and the home side England has won two matches of the fifty-over series with one match still to be played.
That game is on Lords Cricket Ground in London on Friday, 15th September 2023.
England batted well in the 3rd one-day international match which was played against The Kiwis yesterday at Kennington Oval in London.
They piled up 368 runs despite they lost two early wickets and their innings couldn’t even last for the full quota of fifty overs.
The middle order and lower order batters also couldn’t do much as New Zealand bowlers dragged the game back in the end.
From 13 for 2, Dawid Malan and Ben Stokes took the score to 368 runs. Malan smashed 95 runs and Ben Stokes scored a well-deserved hundred in the third game of this series.
After the wicket of Malan, England lost momentum as the Kiwi bowlers did a decent job and restricted the home side to under 400 runs, which looked possible at one stage.
Trent Boult, another comeback man from New Zealand side picked up a five-wicket haul in yesterday’s game. Boult gave away just 51 runs whereas the other bowlers struggled in this match.
Trent didn’t play for the New Zealand team as he wanted to participate in the franchise cricket tournaments. Boult will be the key weapon of the Kiwis during the ODI World Cup 2023.
Ben Stokes missed a golden chance of being the first player from the England Cricket Team to smash a double ton in the one-day international format.
In ODI cricket, there have been 10 double centuries scored overall and none of the batters from England scored 200 runs to date.
Stokesy had an excellent opportunity to achieve that record in yesterday’s game against New Zealand.
The talismanic all-rounder of the England Cricket Team, Ben Stokes has been called back to defend their crown in this year’s ODI World Cup 2023 in India.
Stokes had announced his retirement from the one-day international format last year. But now, he will be the key batter for his team.
Ben smashed 182 unbeaten runs in yesterday's game which is the highest individual score in the ODI format scored by a batter of England.
Jason Roy held this record earlier before Stokes broke it yesterday. Roy smashed 180 runs against the Aussies at Melbourne Cricket Ground in 2018.
