ODI Asia Cup 2023: Sri Lanka had won 13 one-day international matches in a row before they met the men in blue side in their second match of the Super Four round in this edition of the ODI Asia Cup 2023.
India has won their second game of the Super Four round and that too in back-to-back days. After a mammoth win over Pakistan on Monday, Rohit and Co had a fighting win of 41 runs versus Sri Lanka yesterday.
India couldn’t bat that well against Sri Lanka. They scored just 197 runs and lost nine wickets before the rains stopped the play for some time. The target for Sri Lanka was revised to 214 runs.
The men in blue side won this match mainly because of the bowlers who bowled extremely well.
Jaspirt Bumrah started the procession of wickets with the new ball. Boom Boom picked up two wickets and that was followed by Mohammed Siraj, and Hardik Pandya, who got one wicket each to their names.
The spinners were also excellent, Ravindra Jadeja got two scalps and Kuldeep Yadav was the pick of the bowlers in this game as he got four wickets.
Now with this over the Lankan Tigers, the men in blue side are certain to make it to the finals of the ODI Asia Cup 2023.
Sri Lanka and Pakistan have a last chance as they will face each other in their final game of the Super Four round on Thursday, 14th September 2023.
India’s last game of the Super Four round is against Bangladesh on Friday, 15th September 2023.

The team of the Lankan Tigers has won six Asia Cup tiles till now and they have also reached the finals of this tournament for the most number of times as well.
India was the first Asian team to win the Asia Cup trophy when the tournament was played for the first ever time in the United Arab Emirates in 1984.
But Sri Lanka is the first host country to win this event in 1986. They also have a record of winning the Asia Cup titles for the most number of times as the host country of this tournament.
Apart from winning the title in 1986, Sri Lanka has also won the titles of the Asia Cup events in the 1997 and 2004 editions as well as the host country of this Asian tournament.
The men in blue have another chance to win their eighth trophy when they will play the finals of the ODI Asia Cup 2023 on Sunday.
But as the host country of the Asia Cup, Team India has not hosted this tournament quite a lot as other countries like Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and the United Arab Emirates have done it till now.
The last time when Team India was the host of the Asia Cup, that was in 1991 and since then the men in the blue side have not hosted a single event of this Asian competition.
As mentioned above, this Asian tournament has been hosted in other countries of Asia for the majority of time. However, India had won that edition of the Asia Cup when they were host in the 1991 season.
