CEAT Cricket Rating Awards: India’s Shubman Gill, the opening batter in all three forms of the game was named the Men’s International Cricketer of the Year in the awards ceremony of the CEAT Cricket Rating Awards which was held on Monday, 21st August 2023.
The 23-year-old batter of the men in blue side also got two more awards apart from receiving the award Men’s International Cricketer Award of the Year.
The Prince of Indian Cricket was also named as the ODI Batter of the Year and also the International Batter of the Year in this awards ceremony in New Delhi.
This was the 25th year of the CEAT Cricket Rating Awards ceremony and the committee has also recognized the wonderful work done by the women’s cricket players as well.
Deepti Sharma won the award of Women’s international cricket player of the Year while Shafali Verma was honoured as the captain of the Under 19 women’s team of India.
India’s terrific batter of the shortest format and the IPL, Suryakumar Yadav also won an award. SKY was named the T20 International batter of the year. While Bhuveshwar Kumar, who is out of the Indian team, was still named as the T20I Bowler of the year.
Madan Lal, who was in the team when India won the first-ever World Cup in 1983, was also honoured in the awards ceremony.
Karsan Ghavri was the other player who was in that 1983 World Cup winning team.
Lal and Gharvi were felicitated with the CEAT Lifetime Winners Award in that ceremony.
With that one player from the domestic cricket circuit also won an award. Jalaj Saxena is the name of that young player and he was handed the award of CEAT Domestic Cricket Player of the Year in 2023.
Talking about international cricket players, the former batter of the New Zealand team, who is the current head coach of the England Cricket Team, Brendon McCullum was given the award of the best coach of the year and it is due to his skills that a new approach like the BazBall can be seen in a format like Test Cricket.
The other players from the Kiwi nation also feature in this awards list. Tim Southee was awarded as the Best International bowler of the year and Kane Williamson was given the award of the Best International Test batter of the year.
At the same time, Adam Zampa was the only player from Australia who won an award.
He was the Best ODI Bowler of the year and Prabhat Jayasuriya from Sri Lanka also won the best Test bowler of the year in 2023.
