ODI Asia Cup 2023: The Asia Cup in the fifty overs will be played from 30th August 2023 to 17th September 2023.

As we all know this year’s event will be played in two countries, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The men in the green country will host the starting four games.

Sri Lanka will host the rest of the matches in this year’s ODI Asia Cup 2023. The Lankan Tigers had won last year’s Asia Cup T20, which was played in the United Arab Emirates.

But India is the defending champions of the Asia Cup in one-day international format.

India will start their campaign against the arch-rivals team, Pakistan in this ODI Asia Cup 2023 on September 2nd 2023.

The men in blue will be led by Rohit Sharma and India has included their two main batters for this event.

ODI Asia Cup 2023: KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer Are Back

The Asia Cup in the fifty-overs format will be played with one eye to the ODI World Cup 2023 in India. That is the main reason why India has selected Shreyas Iyer and Kannur Lokesh Rahul in the squad for the ODI Asia Cup 2023.

KL and Iyer will make a return to the International level after a long injury layoff.

Shreyas has fully recovered from his injury while Rahul has been carrying a niggle which is not related to his long-term issues but the Karnataka batter might miss a few games during this tournament.

So the selectors have named Sanju Samson as a backup wicket-keeper.

Team India is also looking to find a perfect batter in the number four slot. This old issue has been raised again just like it was in the 2019 World Cup.

Tilak Varma made his debut during the five-match series of the shortest format in the Caribbean. He has been named in the squad of the ODI Asia Cup 2023.

Tilak Varma will likely bat at that much-debated number four position and the team management will hope that the star batter will be the answer to their woes.

Varma had a good IPL 2023 and the series against West Indies in the T20 International format. Now he should aim to translate that good form in the fifty overs format.

Suryakumar Yadav has been picked in the 17-member squad of the ODI Asia Cup 2023. SKY is not that player in the ODI format and he also admits that he is due for runs.

As his fans, we hope that Surya repays the faith that the selectors, captain and coach have shown in him.

Hardik Pandya is still the vice-captain of the ODI side and that position hasn’t been taken away from the pace bowling all-rounder.

Jasprit Bumrah’s return to the ODI setup will be great for the men in blue side.

Boom Boom Bumrah will be the leader of India’s pace bowling attack along with, Mohammed Siraj, Shardul Thakur, Mohammed Shami and Praisdh Krishana. Jadeja, Axar and Kuldeep will be India’s spin trio.

But Yuzvendra Chahal didn’t find a place in this squad of the ODI Asia Cup 2023.
