
COVID-19 Update: In the last 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry has released the latest data showing that India has recorded 10,753 new Covid cases. The active caseload in the country stands at 53,720.
As stated on the ministry website, active cases now constitute only 0.12% of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has reached 98.69%.
XBB.1.16, a sub-variant of Omicron, is currently fueling the surge in Covid cases. The daily positivity rate has climbed to 6.78%, while the weekly positivity rate stands at 4.49%.
As per the Union Health Ministry's report, India recorded 11,109 new Covid-19 cases on Friday, marking the highest daily count in over seven months.
Over the last 24 hours, 27 deaths were recorded, bringing the toll to 5,31,091.
According to updated data at 8 am, six fatalities were reported in Delhi, four in Maharashtra, three in Rajasthan, and one each in Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh. The figure also incorporates six deaths reconciled by Kerala.
Additionally, the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive has administered 220.66 crore vaccine doses as of now.
